Upcoming Live Virtual Activator Ortho Course

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, we will be hosting a Live Virtual ACTIVATOR® Ortho Course for Hip and Knee OA & Pre/Post Hip/knee Replacement. This course will be presented by Mandy Shintani, OT, Gerontologist and features amazing guest speakers John Histamoto, PT, ATC and Lisa Limper, AT.


Mandy is an occupational therapist with more than 30 years of experience as well as being a gerontologist and international conference speaker on Nordic walking/urban poling for rehabilitation and fitness. Fifteen years ago, she applied her skills as an occupational therapist to develop the Activator Poles (patented) and technique specifically for rehabilitation, which are evidence-based and the focus of 15 current studies. Research on the Activator poles has been presented at international conferences and poster presentations. Mandy has been featured on numerous occasions in the national media and was a finalist in the prestigious YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

John is a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer who graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He helped direct at Union Memorial Sports Medicine Center in Baltimore, MD, prior to accepting the director of rehabilitation position at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Since 1993, John has served as the owner and director of Pro-Active Physical Therapy, an outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine center in Tampa. He has been active in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation his entire career and has been recognized by Physical Therapy magazine as one of the top orthopedic sports medicine therapists in the country. John lectures extensively nationally and internationally, having traveled to more than 20 countries to share his insights.

Lisa has a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Florida and has worked in professional, collegiate, and high school athletics throughout her career. She has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 1992 and a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1993.  She has worked as a personal trainer at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee for 20 years and coached high school football for seven years. She has had a number of articles published and has served on national- and state-level committees for the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American Football Coaches Association. Her areas of interest are helping people recover after injury or surgery, and sport performance coaching, and credits the Activator poles as being key to her own recovery from hip replacement surgery in 2019.
