Nordic walking improves mobility in Parkinson’s disease (van Eijkeren et al 2008) - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18816697/: This study examines the benefits of Nordic walking on improving mobility in Parkinson’s disease patients. It included 19 PD patients who received a 6-week Nordic walking exercise program. Significant improvements were founding in timed 10-minute walking, times get-up-and-go-test, the 6-minute walking test, and quality of life. All treatments persisted and excellent compliance was found with no adverse effects. Preliminary findings suggest Nordic walking could provide safe, effective, and enjoyable ways to improve physical activity in Parkinson’s patients and improve their quality of life.
